My name is Donia Ibrahim and I am Palestinian-Jordanian. I am a certified Physician Assistant. I was born and raised in New Jersey, then moved to Amman, Jordan at the age of 13. I lived there for 7 years, and moved back to the U.S., to Cleveland Ohio. I am a first-generation Arab American, and the first person in my family to earn an undergraduate degree. I always knew I wanted to be in the medical field because I was always so amazed and inspired by the health professionals who took care of the elderly in my family. I knew I wanted to be that person someday. I also believe that comes with being raised in a Middle Eastern home. We are always taught to care for others, and help those in need. I love that aspect about my heritage and I want to continue to spread it throughout my lifetime. In addition to studying for most of my life; I love to spend my time traveling, working out, singing, and spending quality time with those who matter most. If I can say something to the community around me, it would be to keep an open mind, be more accepting of one another, and help elevate those around you instead of bringing each other down. Also, step out of your comfort zone, you may fall in love with something new, or meet people that will add value to your life. I’ll end with my favorite quote by Hockey Hall of Famer, Wayne Gretzky: “You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take.”
