Amani Abraham

Amani Abraham is an Emmy-award winning journalist, currently working with WKYC-TV in Cleveland, Ohio.

 

Amani has received several Emmy nominations and was awarded an Emmy for her role in breaking news coverage. She was also recognized for her work in journalism, receiving the first place award for Best Reporter by the Ohio Associated Press Media Editors Association in 2013 and by the Society of Professional Journalism in 2016. In 2011, Amani was named Woman to Watch by the Women's History Project in Akron. 

 

Amani, born in Akron, began her career at Rubber City Radio immediately following college graduation. She is the former morning news anchor for 94.9 WQMX and 1590 WAKR. Amani graduated from the University of Akron with a dual degree in News and Radio/TV Broadcasting. Most recently, Amani graduated with a master’s degree in journalism education from Kent State University. 

 

As a young child, Amani’s inquisitive nature caught the attention of her parents. Since then, they have encouraged her along the way in her educational and professional journey. Amani’s love for storytelling blossomed as she began to identify the impact a story can have on someone’s life. 

 

Amani enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and meeting new people. Cooking has become another joyful passion and creative outlet. Amani loves learning and sharing recipes from all over the world, including recipes that connect her to her family’s Palestinian heritage.
